About the ISOThe International Services Office interacts with departments within the University community to advocate for and address the various needs of international students and scholars (faculty, researchers, and post-docs). The ISO provides programs and services for more than 1200 international students, 600 international scholars, and 700 spouses and other dependents from 90 countries. The ISO is the University's official liaison with the Department of State, foreign and American consulates and embassies, and the Department of Homeland Security. It administers the F-1 Student and J-1 Exchange Visitor programs, under specific government regulations through the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). The ISO is responsible for issuing visa documents and advising students on all immigration matters. It serves as an information resource to assist internationals in adjusting to the United States, the University, and the Rochester community.
