This section of the ISO web site is meant to provide current international students with the information they need on how to maintain their status, report changes to the ISO, and seek legal employment opportunities, among other things. Please read the ISO's International Student Handbook in order to familiarize yourself with immigration procedures and regulations, the University, and the community of Rochester.

Change Address
Any changes in your address must be reported to the ISO using this form within 10 days of your move. You can also use this form to report changes in your billing or foreign addresses.

U.S. Social Security Numbers
A U.S. Social Security Number (SSN) is used to track an employee's wages for benefits eligibility and tax-reporting requirements. As an international student or scholar, you are required to obtain a SSN if you become employed on or off campus in the U.S. .

This page contains the most up-to-date information on traveling outside the U.S., including a list of travel documents and information on the current state of visa delays.

  Immigration

Tax Info
All international students must file a tax form with the U.S. government each year. To learn more about your federal and state tax obligations, please visit this page.

Dependents
This page contains information that is relevant for spouses and children of students who hold F-2 or J-2 status. It includes information on employment options, studying in the U.S., English classes, support groups, and family issues.
